KS5 DT Product Design

Key Stage 5

The specification followed at A-Level is the AQA Design and Technology: Product Design. The pupils will develop in-depth knowledge and understanding about the core technical principles that are central to all modern design and make activities. These will then be applied to a coursework component and tested in two examination papers sat at the end of the two years.

Introduction

This subject is an amazing opportunity to gain a real appreciation of man-made products and develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to design and make your own products that function well and look good.

Studies

Learning will take place through a combination of practical activities, studies and theoretical lessons. Through analysing different existing products, you will learn what they are made from, how they are made in industry and why these materials and processes are used. You will learn about how these different products are designed to meet the needs of a client, along with ergonomic, aesthetic, functional, sustainability, environmental and safety requirements.
