KS5 Physical Education What do I need to study the course? GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science and English Language. You must also be involved in regular training/ competition and have a club standard performance level in at least one sport. What does the course involve? At AS: Paper 1: Factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport What's Assessed - Section A: Applied Physiology Section B: Skill acquisition and sports psychology Section C: Sport and society and technology in sport How it's assessed - Written Exam: 2 hours, worth 84 marks (70% of AS) Questions - Section A: Multiple choice, short answer and extended writing (28 marks) Section B: Multiple choice, short answer and extended writing (28 marks) Section C: Multiple choice, short answer and extended writing (28 marks) Non-exam assessment: Practical performance in physical activity and sport What's Assessed - Student assessed as a performer of coach in the full sided version of one activity, plus written/verbal analysis of performance. Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity Level 3 What do I need to study the course? GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science and English Language. You must also be involved in regular training and competition and have a club standard performance level in at least one sport. What does the course involve? Extended Certificate (1 A-Level) Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity 360 GLH is equivalent to one A Level in terms of size Units 1, 2 (90 GLH each), and Unit 3 (60 GLH) are mandatory Plus a minimum of 120 GLH chosen from the optional units (30 and 60 units). It will provide learners with the opportunity, through applied learning, to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the sport and physical activity sector. Diploma (2 A-Levels) Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity 372 GLH is equivalent to two A Level in terms of size Units 1, 2 and 4 (60 GLH each), and Unit 11 (30 GLH) are mandatory in all pathways. Units 6, 7 and 13 (60 GLH each) are mandatory in the {Personal Training pathway. Units 5, 8 17 and 18 (60 GLH each) are mandatory in the Sports Coaching pathway. The remaining GLH for each pathway must be chosen form the optional units (30 or 60 GLH) It will provide learners with the opportunity to develop the core knowledge, skills and understanding required by the sport and physical activity sector and to develop further skills by completing a wide range of units through a choice of specialist pathways: Sports Coaching Personal Training What next? This qualification in Sport provides an broad base of study for learners who are looking to build a career in sport. These areas include in exercise and fitness, coaching and leadership, sports development and outdoor adventurous activities.
Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership What do I need to study the course? A willingness to complete 30 hours voluntary leadership, which must be undertaken in school or local clubs. Course aims This course aims to build on existing leadership skills and increase your knowledge, experience and confidence in leading. You will learn how to plan, organise and lead activity sessions for various social groups. Further develop your knowledge of fitness in sport and work with people from the local community to deliver your sports sessions. 16 UCAS points are awarded for completion of this course. Qualification Units Mandatory Units 1 - Developing leadership Skills 2 - Plan, lead and evaluate a sports/physical activity event 3 - Lead safe sport/physical activity sessions 4 - Plan, lead and evaluate sport/physical activity sessions for children Optional Units - Learners must complete two units from Units 5, 6 and 7. They can only be completed after the learner has been assessed for Units 1, 3 and 4. 5 - Plan, lead and evuate Sport/physical activity sessions in the community 6 - Plan, lead and evaluate sport/physical activity sessions for disabled people. 7 - Plan, lead and evaluate sport/physical activity sessions for older people
