The Student Council is a highly democratic and very active organisation that takes the student voice seriously and gives effective and meaningful representation to all students. Students from all year groups and Abbeys are involved in the student council and all participants come with a wealth of ideas that they and others would like to discuss to help the school move forward. The Student Council has been involved in many issues over the last few years, such as school catering, how the school day is organised and the development of Study Support, and always has a voice in staff appointments. Being on the student council is a great way for students to boost their experience of being part of an important organisation as well as giving them something invaluable to talk about on their future job / university applications. Students recognise the importance of the student council and comment that “It’s really great that many of the ideas we bring forward actually happen” and “It really has helped me improve my communication and people management skills”.
