Abbey Grange celebrates World Book Day in style. The corridors and classrooms of Abbey Grange were overrun by an amazing array of literary characters on Thursday March 3rd World Book Day. For the second year in a row, KS3 dressed up as their favourite literary character. Well done to Billy Johnstone and runners up Christian Kemp and Maymona Mustafa. Whether they were in English, Music, History or DT lessons, students started every lesson with part of a story to help us celebrate to wonderful world of books and storytelling. Roald Dahl’s short story ‘The Landlady’ was this year’s chosen story and by period 5 on World Book Day students had heard it all and might never see taxidermy in quite the same way. Staff also got involved and not just by dressing up, but by submitting their favourite lines from Literature for an Abbey Grange vote. And the joint winners voted for by staff and students were: "After all this time?" "Always", said Snape. So Matilda's strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: "You are not alone." The below video was recorded by members of staff for the 2017 edition of World Book Day, based on Jackanory, so sit back and enjoy.
