We believe it is vital that all students have the opportunity to go on trips whilst studying at Abbey Grange. This may involve day trips in and around Leeds such as pilgrimages or field trips to the Yorkshire Dales, or further afield to America, skiing in Europe, visiting the battlefields in France and a Geography trip to Iceland.

With a successful eco-group and recycling programme at Abbey Grange, we are focused on reducing our impact on the environment without it impacting upon student experiences. Students and parents are increasingly aware that trips can have one the environment. We want to ensure students still have access to these trips as we believe it is important students have access to such experiences.

Here are some of the things we consider when planning school trips:

• Look for destinations that prioritise sustainability and have eco-friendly practices in place.
• Use the opportunity of the trip to educate students on the importance of protecting the environment and ways they can reduce their environmental impact.
• If appropriate, plan a clean-up activity at the destination to help preserve the natural environment and promote environmental stewardship.
• Encourage students to respect the natural environment and follow Leave No Trace principles
